In support of the humanitarian-development nexus, HDI South Sudan aims to ensure the organization’s activities are aligned and contribute to the shared objectives and collective outcomes of development programming envisaged in the South Sudan.
Humanitarian Response Plan of 2020. Towards this, over the three years programme period, HDI South Sudan plans to undertake the followings against the three strategic objectives as indicated in the HRP 2020 for South Sudan.
Linking with the strategic objectives, HDI’s response by different sectors (Health, Nutrition, Livelihoods, Education, WASH and Protection) aims to reduce morbidity, mortality, and suffering from protection threats and incidents of most vulnerable population in locations where needs are severe. An integrated approach is used to ensure people’s basic needs are met through the provision of critical cross-sectoral services. All HDI sector responses emphasize to support coping capacities and livelihoods of people in prioritized locations with the aim of building the resilience of targeted different population groups.
Both static and mobile response modalities are used, depending on geographical locations and types of assistance and services. Inter sectoral contributions will be more through geographical convergence with the critical integrated services. HDI South Sudan’s prioritized locations includes areas with high acute food insecurity, epidemic prone locations, places affected by ongoing/recurrent conflict and potential areas. A multi sectoral approach and CVA will be increased across sectors. Putting people at the center of the response, all HDI South Sectors use a people-centered approach to mainstream AAP while age and gender considerations are also taken into programming.
The potential risk of COVID-19, Ebola Virus Disease outbreaks and the return of IDPs and South Sudanese refugees with improved security and stability in the country have been considered. These factors could shape the response activities and drive the need for additional resources and funding.
